About the Event

Experience classical music like never before in this astonishing performance of Music from Eastern Europe, the Balkans, and the Eastern Mediterranean at Bologna's remarkable Oratorio San Filippo Neri.
Bologna Festival hosts, in its world premiere, the new project by Ars Vulgaris, the highly original ensemble founded by Robindro Nikolich Mukherjee, a Spanish clarinetist of Indo‐Yugoslavian origins, who, on this occasion, collaborates with Pau Valls Vila (cello), Robert Santamaria (qanun and saz), and Francesco Savoretti (ethnic percussion). His music is a faithful reflection of his diverse identities, weaving together classical music, early music, jazz, and world music. A wandering spirit, he now arrives at Il fiato che resta, moving through seas and mountain chains where Bulgarian and Kopanitsa dances, Doina melodies, Dabke rhythms, and classical dances and rhythms from the Greek coasts, such as Longa, Sirto, and Sammai, echo.
