About the Event

More than a chamber orchestra, the Münchener Kammerorchester is a vibrant laboratory for today’s music.

Composers such as Xenakis, Rihm and Sciarrino have written for this elite ensemble, whose flexible forces here are placed at the service of Prokofiev’s irreverent neo‐Classical pirouettes, Mozart’s most poignant and contemplative piano concerto, and the dancing Strum by Jessie Montgomery, infused with American vernacular idioms. Balancing this is a Brahmsian “piano island”: a twilight in which “pleasure” and “melancholy” coexist, reconciled in the hands of Piotr Anderszewski—an absolute master at painting every shade of stillness.
