Bologna Festival: Europa Galante and Fabio Biondi
Bologna, Auditorium Manzoni — Main Hall
About the Event
In this highly‐anticipated concert, hear the mellifluous sounds of classical music by Antonio Vivaldi, Arcangelo Corelli and Francesco Geminiani at Bologna's treasured and world‐renowned Auditorium Manzoni.
When Fabio Biondi founded Europa Galante in 1989, historically informed performance of the Classical‐Baroque repertoire was almost exclusively the domain of Northern European ensembles. From that moment, the landscape of 17th‐ and 18th‐century performance practice underwent a radical transformation, and Italian ensembles gained increasing authority and originality. This long journey—marked by 60 recordings and nearly a thousand concerts worldwide—culminates in a performance at the Bologna Festival, where the essence of the group’s and its founder’s interpretative approach comes to life: from Vivaldi’s iconic violin concertos to the concerti grossi of Corelli and Geminiani.
