Rafał Blechacz
About the Event
Rafał Blechacz was the first Pole after Krystian Zimerman to win the prestigious Chopin Competition in Warsaw. He is now an exclusive artist of Deutsche Grammophon and a world‐class pianist. Among his enthusiastic fans is none other than the grande dame of the piano scene: Martha Argerich. An “extraordinary, very honest and sensitive artist”, she enthuses.
For the Polish pianist, music is much more than just playing on black and white keys. In his dissertation in philosophy, he devoted himself to metaphysics and aesthetics in music. “That helped me a lot to better understand the freedoms and limits of musical interpretation,” says Blechacz.
At his piano recital in Berlin, he will perform Beethoven's famous “Moonlight Sonata” as well as selected works by Schubert and Chopin.
