Berlin, St.-Elisabeth‐Kirche
About the Event
The countdown to the OPUS KLASSIK weekend 2025 has begun.
Joining us will be the brilliant German‐Greek pianist Danae Dörken and Luxembourg vibraphonist Pascal Schumacher, who will be honored together in the category “New Classical / Neoclassical.”
A real crowd pleaser: Hayato Sumino “Cateen”
The Japanese pianist is not only conquering concert stages worldwide, but is also winning two OPUS KLASSIK awards this year – as “Young Artist of the Year” and for “Live Performance of the Year Soloist.
Experience this extraordinary concert in the magical atmosphere of St. Elisabeth's Church – hosted by Anna Novák.
With the founding of the Society for the Promotion of Classical Music (non‐profit), the previous work of the Association for the Promotion of Classical Music is being transferred to a new institutional structure. Its goal is to anchor classical music even more firmly in society, to make it accessible across generations and demographics, and to focus even more strongly on its cultural value.
The further development of OPUS KLASSIK is also reflected in a stronger focus on live music – an area that repeatedly provides new creative impetus in classical music. For the first time, five separate categories for outstanding live performances will be awarded in 2025. In addition to the existing award for “Innovative Concert of the Year,” four new categories have been introduced: “Live Performance of the Year – Soloist,” “Live Performance of the Year – Orchestra/Ensemble,” “Classical Music Without Borders Live,” and “Tour of the Year.” The award thus recognizes the diversity and innovative power of live music and underscores its central role in classical music life.
