Lyhrus Requiem (world premiere) at Berliner Dom
Berlin, Berliner Dom — Main Hall
About the Event
With his Requiem, Berlin composer Lyhrus has created a work for six choirs that allows both singers and listeners to experience a new interplay of time, sound, silence, and space. It is a work that eludes any temporal connection to the past and future, as well as any linearity—for music that is primarily dedicated to shaping the moment.
About the Venue
'The Berliner Dom is the Evangelical Supreme Parish and Collegiate Cathedral of Berlin. Located in the district of Mitte, in the central Museum Island area, the current building is considered one of the main works of historicist architecture in the city, dating from the early Twentieth Century “Kaiserzeit”. The interior of the church contains many elaborate decorative designs.
The Dom is part of the umbrella organisation “Evangelical Church of Berlin‐Brandenburg‐Silesian Upper Lusatia”. However, the Berliner Dom has never been a true cathedral since it has never been the seat of the bishop, serving primarily as the court church of the rulers of Prussia and later, of the German Emperors.
