Les Vêpres Siciliennes: Deutsche Oper Berlin
Berlin, Deutsche Oper Berlin — Main stage
About the Event
Discover the multiple dimensions in Verdi's opera in this production by Olivier Py at the Deutsche Oper Berlin.
Les Vêpres Siciliennes is no longer just about the fate of the individual, but about its relation to the weal and woe of entire peoples. Unconditional hatred, the will to reconcile and the dichotomy between these extremes determine the actions of the main characters as well as the actions of the occupiers and the oppressed.
At the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the work will not be performed in the Italian adaptation that has long been customary, but in the original French version from 1855. Enrique Mazzola, Principal Guest Conductor of the Deutsche Oper Berlin, will be at the podium.
