About the Event

The Turkish term İÇ İÇE roughly translates to “interwoven.” And that says a lot about the festival, its music, and its people. For what began as a coexistence of so‐called “guest worker” music and the musical culture of West Germany’s majority society has since become more than just interwoven—it now shapes everyday musical life down to the farthest corners of the country. The Kreuzberg festival serves as a platform for the perspectives of the third and fourth generations—the children and grandchildren of so‐called guest workers.

At İÇ İÇE, contemporary Anatolian music meets performance, dance, conversation, and shared experience—beyond any labels. Every June, thousands flock to the grounds of the Festsaal Kreuzberg to celebrate diversity, empowerment, and a sense of community. Now, İÇ İÇE is setting out on a journey of discovery throughout the entire venue—from stage to stage, into the foyers, and into the Konzerthaus Café—spreading its infectious energy. After all, nostalgia and curiosity go hand in hand. Confirmed so far are a collaborative project by the German‐Iranian rising star MADANii and a concert by the Kurdish soulful artist Ali Doğan Gönültaş. More concerts, DJ sets, readings, performances, and film screenings will follow shortly.
