Jan Lisiecki at Philharmonie Berlin
Berlin, Philharmonie Berlin — Kammermusiksaal
About the Event
The press raves about Jan Lisiecki as a “gifted rhetorician” at the piano (Münchner Merkur) or a pianist who goes “beyond striking virtuosity” and is celebrated for it (Süddeutsche Zeitung). Indeed, for many years now, audiences around the world have been captivated by the 30‐year‐old Canadian, who is appreciated for his intelligent and movingly clear playing. No wonder, since he can “depict the world in a single chord” (Süddeutsche Zeitung). This exceptional career has been well documented over the past 15 years in numerous recordings for Deutsche Grammophon.
Under the title “World (of) Dance,” Lisiecki's piano recital in the Chamber Music Hall is dedicated to dances from various European and South American cultures.
With tangos, folk dances, polonaises, and waltzes, the pianist spans the spectrum from Schubert to Brahms to Ginastera and Piazzolla. The gripping passion and infectious enthusiasm of the young keyboard star will ensure a lively listening experience and perhaps even a (mentally) dancing Berlin audience.
