Great Berlin Christmas Concert: Anhalt Philharmonic Orchestra Dessau
Berlin, Konzerthaus Berlin — Großer Saal
About the Event
The Dessau Orchestra is one of the oldest and most traditional ensembles in the state of Saxony‐Anhalt. For decades, it has organized the “Grand Berlin Christmas Concert,” which has become a beloved tradition for many Berlin concertgoers.
Once again, well‐known, festive orchestral works will be performed by a large ensemble, making Christmas Day a special experience.
This year, the Anhaltische Philharmonie Dessau presents Beethoven's “Egmont Overture,” Mussorgsky and Ravel's “Pictures at an Exhibition,” and Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5.
The soloist is the “child prodigy” Justus Eichhorn. The 15‐year‐old up‐and‐coming pianist is considered one of the outstanding musical talents of his generation. With his charismatic personality, brilliant technique, and free, creative musicality, he has thrilled audiences in concert halls such as the Laeiszhalle Hamburg, the Tonhalle Zurich, and the Seoul Arts Center Korea.
Since his debut with Haydn's piano concerto at the age of ten (2020), Justus has performed concerts with various orchestras, including Mozart's A major concerto (KV 414) with the Moscow Soloists under the baton of Yuri Bashmet and Beethoven's Second Piano Concerto with the Korean Chamber Orchestra, the Camerata Prague, the Lviv Philharmonic Orchestra (Ukraine), and the Klassische Philharmonie Bonn. He has also won numerous piano competitions, including the Carl Bechstein Competition in Berlin—as the youngest participant! For his recording of Carl Maria von Weber's piano quartet with Isabelle Faust, Boris Faust, and Alexander Melnikov, he was awarded the German Record Critics' Prize and the Diapason d'Or in 2013.
