Georgijs Osokins: »For Arvo« at Kühlhaus Berlin
Berlin, Kühlhaus Berlin
About the Event
Latvian pianist Georgijs Osokins congratulates Arvo Pärt on his 90th birthday with a special concert program. The focus is on the fascinating solo piano works of the world‐famous Estonian composer.
The project is a musical journey of discovery through the poetic soundscapes of the shared Baltic homeland of the performer and composer, and also marks the start of Osokins exclusive collaboration with Deutsche Grammophon. Arvo Pärt's works are inspired by sacred elements, liturgical texts, and mystical experiences, and his musical explorations and boundary‐crossing have influenced—and continue to influence—musicians of all styles. Osokins' interpretations are considered revolutionary, extraordinary, and unpredictable. He gained worldwide attention through his participation in the 2015 International Chopin Competition. In 2008, the pianist was awarded the Latvian Grand Music Prize: as the youngest winner in the history of the prize, he received the highest musical honor of his home country.
