Freiburger Barockorchester: »Father and Son« at Philharmonie Berlin
About the Event
Scholars, writers, psychologists, and educators have already examined the relationship between Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and his father Leopold in great detail. However, the fact that Wolferl himself had two sons, Carl Thomas and Franz Xaver, is often overlooked. The latter was born in the year of his father's death and also decided to pursue a career in music. As a student of Antonio Salieri and Johann Nepomuk Hummel, he soon became a respected pianist who performed throughout Europe and also published his own compositions, including two piano concertos and a series of art songs.
The Freiburg Baroque Orchestra is dedicated to the musical relationship between Wolfgang Amadeus and Franz Xaver Mozart – how could it be otherwise – together with Christoph and Julian Prégardien. The two singers are not only considered outstanding Mozart interpreters, but also a well‐rehearsed father‐and‐son duo. Kristian Bezuidenhout joins them as soloist, promising an exciting, entertaining, and superbly performed concert evening.
