About the Event

Film and music have been inseparable since the early days of the moving picture. Although it is rare today to hear a live orchestra playing in a cinema, film scores have become immortal. With well over 1,000 concerts and television appearances, the Babelsberg Film Orchestra can look back on a long and successful stage history. Performance venues include the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in Los Angeles, concerts in major Indian cities such as Mumbai, Kolkata, and New Delhi with the music of Oscar winner A. R. Rahman, and, of course, their legendary live film concerts at the Waldbühne and the Gendarmenmarkt. With classical and timeless composers such as Mozart, Wagner, Strauss, Bach, and Brahms, whose melodies have become immortal through films such as Seven, Apocalypse Now, Death in Venice, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Platoon, and Out of Africa, the German Film Orchestra Babelsberg fills the Konzerthaus with a unique symphonic sound.

Konzerthaus Berlin

The Konzerthaus Berlin is a concert hall situated on the Gendarmenmarkt, the most beautiful square in the city. Built in 1821, the structure initially served as a theater. Severely damaged in the Second World War, it was rebuilt as a concert hall in 1977, with a neoclassical interior, and changed its name to reflect its new function in 1994. Consistently numbered among the top five concert halls in the world, the Konzerthaus hosts around 500 performances every year, ranging from symphony and chamber concerts featuring international stars to new music and children's concerts.
