About the Event

In the vibrant heart of Berlin, embark on a melodic journey at one of the city’s cherished landmarks. Clärchens Ballhaus’ Hall of Mirrors, with its grand ceilings, reflective walls, and captivating patina, immediately enchants visitors. Renowned for its exceptional acoustics, it is a premier venue for concerts.

Four decades separate Clara Schumann's Piano Trio in G minor, Op. 17 (1846), and Johannes Brahms' Piano Trio No. 3 in C minor, Op. 101 (1886) – yet their music resonates from a shared source. The two composers were united by a deep friendship and artistic bond.

It is hardly surprising that there's more than just stylistic affinity between the two trios. It is as though two souls who understood each other deeply meet here.

Violinist Sono Tokuda (Elbphilharmonie Hamburg) and cellist Jérôme Fruchart (Concertgebouw Amsterdam) share a long‐standing musical friendship. Together with pianist Yannick Rafalimanana, they bring the two works to the Hall of Mirrors.
