About the Event
In their new revue, the Berlin Vocaphoniker present sound film hits, couplets, and swing melodies from the rich repertoire of the Golden 1920s and the period that followed. Well‐known artists such as the “Comedian Harmonists,” Heymann, Hollaender, Brecht, and Weill are featured, as are Oscar Straus and Paul Abraham, who are considered co‐founders of the Berlin Jazz Operetta.
The Berliner Vocaphoniker accompany the artists from Berlin into exile in America and back to Germany, exploring how their music evolved after their expulsion from Germany. An entertaining evening featuring enchanting melodies from operetta, cabaret, theater, Hollywood, and Broadway.
