Bach in Space at Konzerthaus Berlin
Berlin, Konzerthaus Berlin — Großer Saal
About the Event
Excerpts from works by Johann Sebastian Bach, including “The Well‐Tempered Clavier,” “Goldberg Variations,” French Suite No. 5 in G major, and Italian Concerto in F major, accompanied by impressive images of the universe.
The universe and the music of Johann Sebastian Bach – combining the wonder of these two cosmoses is the aim of “Bach in Space”: impressive images of space on a large screen are coupled with the music of the universal genius, allowing the audience to immerse themselves in a unique way. NASA images of planets, galaxies, and our Earth can be experienced on a large screen while Mona Asuka plays a hand‐picked selection of Bach's works on the piano.
The German‐Japanese pianist, who has performed with numerous renowned orchestras worldwide, combines her musical understanding with extra‐musical experiences. Her performance of Bach's works and the simultaneous view into the vastness of the universe will amaze the audience. Audiences and the press were enthusiastic about the project's first performances in Munich: “The Munich audience is visibly captivated during the performance – by the vastness and depth of the crystal‐clear, high‐resolution images, by the finely curated selection of Bach's repertoire, by the precise execution” (Kultur in München).
