Clärchen's Sunday concerts in the Mirror Hall: Beethoven & Mendelssohn
Berlin, Clärchens Ballhaus — Spiegelsaal
About the Event
In the vibrant heart of Berlin, embark on a melodic journey at one of the city’s cherished landmarks. Clärchens Ballhaus’ Hall of Mirrors, with its grand ceilings, reflective walls, and captivating patina, immediately enchants its visitors. Known for its exceptional acoustics, it is a premier venue for concerts.
Mark Bouchkov has long performed on the world's greatest stages as a soloist and chamber musician, Lir Vaginsky is considered a rising star in the violin world, and Ori Kam and Hila Karni were long‐time members of renowned ensembles such as the Jerusalem String Quartet and the Mondrian Trio.
These four internationally acclaimed musicians form a string quartet in a class of its own, whose program juxtaposes Beethoven's String Quartet in C minor, Op. 18 No. 4, and Mendelssohn's Quartet in A minor, Op. 13.
Beethoven's early work already shows his urge to expand the classical form and deepen its expression. Around 30 years later, Mendelssohn – at just 18 years of age – picks up on this and combines this influence with his own lyrical, romantic language.
