About the Event
MEAM invites you to dive into the lively 'unplugged' concerts of the Sunday Sounds series, showcasing an eclectic blend of musical styles, including indie, flamenco fusion, tango, and pop. Set off on a unique sonic journey where, consistent with MEAM’s tradition, music harmoniously integrates with art and history.
In 'Romancero de la Universidad de Stony Brook,' the Neapolitan writer and singer‐songwriter intertwines his songs with verses from Spanish literature.
A poetic journey where his unique voice and guitar resonate like the echo of an ancient but never forgotten story.
In a kind of poetic diary, musical verses by the Machado brothers, García Lorca, Juan Ramón Jiménez, José Hierro, and Reinaldo Arenas appear.
Each note and each word evoke a narrative of his stay in New York as a professor of Spanish at Stony Brook University.
Alessio Arena is a Hispanist, writer, and singer‐songwriter. His latest book is Il sesso degli alberi (Fandango Libri, 2025).
He has been awarded for his books in Italy and also won the Musicultura Festival (2013) and the Andrea Parodi Prize (2021).
