Violinist Roberts Balanas brings a surprising programme to the Petit Palau, breaking down the boundaries between eras, styles and musical languages. The journey begins with the medieval music of the Llibre Vermell de Montserrat and reaches Radiohead, Björk and Sílvia Pérez Cruz, taking in Steve Reich’s hypnotic minimalism and contemporary music along the way.
With a single violin and electronics as his ally, Balanas explores counterpoint not only as a musical technique, but also as a play of contrasts, overlapping layers and dialogues between seemingly distant musical worlds.
