About the Event

Ring in the New Year with unparalleled elegance and musical brilliance at the New Year's Concert of the Gran Teatre del Liceu.

For the second consecutive year, and establishing itself as a traditional New Year’s concert in our country, the Liceu Orchestra and Chorus, with Jonathan Nott as its new principal conductor, remind us that sonic art is perhaps the purest form of transcendence. With this spirit of communion and hope, the Gran Teatre del Liceu once again celebrates it and thus reaffirms its ambition to become a reference point in the musical calendar, a contemporary ritual in which tradition, emotion, and artistic excellence converge in a single gesture.
Following the impact and symbolic strength of its first edition, this concert consolidates a high‐value artistic partnership. On this occasion, Jonathan Nott, renowned for his gestural elegance, the spiritual dimension he brings to music, and his deep knowledge of the universal repertoire, will place his baton at the service of a concert of great sensitivity, through a program that highlights the richness of bel canto, the solemnity of the symphonic repertoire, and the luminous spirit characteristic of these dates of renewal and collective aspiration.

Sopranos Ermonela Jaho and Núria Rial, tenor Freddie De Tommaso, and countertenor Jakub Józef Orliński, widely admired around the world and marked by intense dramatic expression, are able to elevate every phrase with captivating theatrical power. They stand out for their luminous vocal line, refined phrasing, and stage energy that makes them profoundly magnetic artists.
Together, under Nott’s inspired direction, they bring to life a program that combines operatic excerpts and emblematic pieces from this period, celebrating an evening that, in this second edition, is confirmed as a privileged space for encounter, an emotional journey of extraordinary beauty, and an affirmation of music’s power as a language of renewal and hope.
