Gran Teatre del Liceu: Trencanous‐Jazz
Barcelona, Gran Teatre del Liceu — Sala Principal
About the Event
The magic of Tchaikovsky’s ballet is reinvented with the elegance and freedom of jazz.
The stage and dramaturgical proposal of Trencanous‐jazz at the Sala Gran brings back the most iconic elements of E.T.A. Hoffmann’s original tale to offer a dreamlike journey full of fantasy, in which the most magical melodies of Tchaikovsky’s ballet are reinvented through the elegance, freedom, and improvisation of jazz.
The Nutcracker is a universal classic that, over time, has been reinterpreted through multiple choreographic languages. This production is part of that living tradition and proposes a new reading through contemporary dance, opening up new forms of movement, expression, and narrative.
Inspired both by the ballet and Hoffmann’s novel, this new version turns the world of dreams into a space of transformation, freedom, and discovery.
A large cast of musicians and dancers brings to life a performance full of rhythm, color, movement, and emotion, where music, dance, and imagination come together to celebrate the ability of the classics to renew themselves without losing their essence.
