About the Event
Festeig i giravolt is a creation by Jofre Bardolet, blending operetta and musical theatre, that portrays key moments in the life of Eduard Toldrà through an eclectic musical style —from Beethoven to pop, including Catalan music. The work combines classical and modern singing, Toldrà’s songs, personal letters, and dramatized scenes. It tells the story of his love for Maria Sobrepera, the creation of El giravolt de maig, and the rich cultural scene in early 20th‐century Catalonia, featuring figures like Juli Garreta, Pau Casals, and Conxita Badia. Mostly based on real events, it offers an intimate and vivid portrait of the composer before the war.
