Wagner & Beethoven
Baden‐Baden, Festspielhaus Baden‐Baden
About the Event
An unusual program in which Antonio Pappano, chief conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra, demonstrates two things: his operatic experience and his dramaturgical sensitivity. Vilde Frang interprets Beethoven's violin concerto on a Guarneri from 1734. Sarah Jakubiak and Clay Hilley can be heard in Wagner's “Liebestod” movement from “Tristan und Isolde.” The American heroic tenor has already been acclaimed at the Festspielhaus as the Emperor in Strauss's “Die Frau ohne Schatten” and as Siegfried.
