About the Event

Richard Wagner presented his wife Cosima with the “Siegfried Idyll” to mark the birth of their son. The music, one of the composer's most cheerful creations, draws on motifs from the opera “Siegfried,” which Yannick Nézet‐Séguin will also be bringing to his spring guest performance in Baden‐Baden. In Götterdämmerung, the conclusion of the Ring tetralogy, the older Siegfried will then embark on a journey down the Rhine. Today, the audience will get there before him: to Robert Schumann's cheerful and romantic “Rhenish Symphony.”
