About the Event
It's Valentine's Day – and we have just the right concert for it. Prokofiev's music for Romeo and Juliet combines dramatic climaxes with sophisticated dance rhythms and melodies that go straight to the heart. It is not without reason that Prokofiev was considered one of the great melodists of the 20th century – similar to his contemporary George Gershwin. Hélène Grimaud, who lived in Gershwin's hometown of New York for several years and absorbed the vibrant sound of the metropolis, interprets his jazzy piano concerto.
