About the Event

Nestled in the vibrant heart of the german capital, embark on an auditory adventure at one of the capital's legendary locations. The Hall of Mirrors at Clärchens Ballhaus, with its lofty ceilings and gleaming walls, captivates with a distinct patina. Noted for its superb acoustics, it stands as a top concert venue.

The Polish composer Grażyna Bacewicz—hailed as the “First Lady of Polish Music”—is one of the most fascinating musical voices of the 20th century. As a virtuoso violinist, inspiring teacher, and significant composer, she created a body of work of extraordinary expressiveness: music brimming with sonic imagination, rhythmic energy, and emotional depth. Between harmonic boldness, the atmosphere of the postwar era, and influences from Polish folk music, a musical language unfolds that is at once intense, warm‐hearted, and imbued with subtle humor.
In this concert, the Quatuor Magenta focuses on Bacewicz’s impressive string quartets and juxtaposes them with works from various centuries. This creates exciting musical dialogues between composers, eras, and soundscapes—linked by shared sources of inspiration, imaginative power, and a palpable joie de vivre. A concert evening full of discoveries, contrasts, and vibrant musical stories.
