Duo Mare at Clärchen's Sunday concerts in the Mirror Hall
B‐Mitte, Clärchens Ballhaus — Spiegelsaal
About the Event
In the vibrant heart of german capital, dive into an auditory journey at one of the city's legendary venues. The Hall of Mirrors at Clärchens Ballhaus captivates with its high ceilings and reflective walls, offering a space that exudes a unique charm. Known for its outstanding acoustics, it stands as a top destination for concerts.
Two young musicians are deeply passionate about chamber music and perform as Duo Mare. Cellist Clara Berger and pianist Nora Wortmann have been playing together for many years, a musical rapport that is also reflected in their finely tuned program.
The duo moves between late Romanticism and modernism: Carl Reinecke’s Cello Sonata “Den Manen Johannes Brahms” is a musical tribute to Brahms, whose selected songs, arranged for cello and piano, highlight the instrument’s vocal warmth. Nadia Boulanger’s Trois pièces offer delicate, transparent timbres, before Dmitri Shostakovich’s passionate and richly contrasting Sonata in D minor, Op. 40, brings the evening to a close.
To accompany the concert, the Reinecke Museum in Leipzig is presenting a small exhibition on the composer’s life and work.
