In the vibrant heart of the german capital, dive into an auditory journey at one of the city's legendary venues. The Hall of Mirrors at Clärchens Ballhaus captivates with its high ceilings and reflective walls, offering a space that exudes a unique charm. Eight outstanding musicians, now performing with Europe’s leading orchestras: Wolfram Brandl (concertmaster of the Staatskapelle Berlin), Christoph and Martin von der Nahmer (Berlin Philharmonic), Anselm Telle (Semperoper Dresden), Luke Turrell (Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra), Tamás Vásárhelyi (Basel Chamber Orchestra), and Maximilian von Pfeil (Orquesta Sinfónica del Principado de Asturias).

What unites them is more than just excellence—it is a deep musical friendship that has grown since their days as students together at the Berlin University of the Arts. This special bond will be evident in this concert.

The musicians are traveling to Berlin especially for the evening in the Hall of Mirrors to begin by performing Hans Werner Henze’s sextet “Törless.” In the second half of the concert, they will come together to perform one of the most brilliant works in the entire string repertoire: Felix Mendelssohn’s Octet—a sparkling masterpiece full of virtuosity and youthful boldness. The program is rounded out by Dmitri Shostakovich’s rarely performed “Two Movements” for string octet, Op. 11.

The result is a musical reunion of the highest order: eight distinctive artists, a shared spirit, and pure joy in playing. A concert not to be missed!

The concert is dedicated to the late Prof. Uwe‐Martin Haiberg, who shaped all of the evening’s violinists during their time as students.
