Naturally, Liszt, known for his unpredictability, includes a surprising twist. Conductor Iván Fischer pairs the piano concerto with two major works from the early Romantic era. Carl Maria von Weber revolutionized opera with his inventive Der Freischütz. The overture integrates melodies from the opera into a standalone orchestral piece that continues to captivate audiences.

Schubert's Symphony No. 9
In his masterful Ninth Symphony, Schubert challenges the orchestra, assigning especially intense roles to the wind section. This symphony wasn’t performed until eleven years posthumously.
