vision string quartet plays Dvořák and Ravel
About the Event
The four musicians of the Berlin Vision String Quartet are acclaimed for their lively, fiery and exciting performances. Well‐known string quartets by Dvořák and Ravel are presented in a new way, as the quartet plays everything by heart and pays great attention to an unconventional stage presentation.
Webern, Dvořák and Ravel
Ravel's Only String Quartet and Dvořák's Thirteenth are both masterpieces, but differ greatly in style. Dvořák uses rousing, expressive Bohemian folk dances, while Ravel's music, on the other hand, is full of delicate French melodies and contrasting moods: from dreamy and resigned to exuberant and energetic. The concert opens with Webern's Langsamer Satz, an early work by Webern in which he does not yet experiment as heavily as in his later works, but in which he nevertheless conjures up an entirely new world of sound.
vision string quartet
The vision string quartet, founded in 2012, has previously been a guest at The Concertgebouw. De Volkskrant gave the Berlin musicians four stars: 'They play with unprecedented purity' and 'they make music at the highest level (…) with great energy and unity'. The German press praised them for their “lively, fiery and exciting performances. What is special is that the quartet plays everything by heart and pays great attention to an unconventional stage presentation. The four young musicians won awards not only for their interpretations of the classical repertoire, but also for their own compositions incorporating folk, pop, jazz, rock, funk and minimalist music.
