This evening, they celebrate with a distinctive homage to John Coltrane, the legendary musician who would have reached his centennial in 2026. Their performance, The Coltrane Mutations, embodies the essence of FES: it’s distinct, insightful, and bold. The orchestra presents their own arrangements and interpretations of Coltrane classics, along with entirely new pieces influenced by the Trane legacy.
In 2026, John Coltrane would have celebrated his 100th birthday. Through a series of four concerts, we pay tribute to an iconic innovator who also graced The Concertgebouw with unforgettable performances in the 1960s.
