About the Event
Adriaan Willaert was astonished when he suddenly heard his own music in the Vatican in 1515, also falsely attributed to Josquin Desprez! It was the bizarre start of an international illustrious career with which Willaert drew deep grooves in Venetian Renaissance polyphony. Dionysos Now! follows the Fleming's trail, from his early successes, past the pioneering collection Musica Nova, to the lamentations written by colleagues and pupils after his death.

Six voices, tons of experience, rock‐solid conviction and tireless drive: this is the capital of Dionysos Now!, the vocal ensemble launched in 2020 by Belgian tenor Tore Tom Denys. With Vienna as their home base and worldwide concert experience, the singers are relentlessly committed as ambassadors of the Franco‐Flemish polyphonists. Starting point is always the original manuscripts and prints that bear the footsteps of composers such as Adriaan Willaert, Denys' fellow townsman and ultimate source of inspiration. But the ensemble's interpretations stand with both feet in the present, thanks to voice playing at the cutting edge. With four recordings on vinyl dedicated to Willaert, the ensemble also opts for quality, durability and originality in terms of discography.
