Beethoven's Fifth
Arguably the most legendary four notes ever composed, Beethoven’s ‘da‐da‐da‐daaaa’ motif heralds the Fifth Symphony like a firm knock at the door. This motif sparks an ingenious creation that remains as compelling now as it was over two centuries ago. The Concertgebouw Orchestra brings this exhilarating early nineteenth‐century work to life, directed by Riccardo Minasi. Before this, however, they will unveil another nineteenth‐century masterpiece, often forgotten today – in fact, this is the Netherlands' debut performance of Emilie Mayer’s Faust Overture!
