About the Event
John Coltrane stands among jazz’s greatest innovators. In 2026, the 100th anniversary of his birth, The Concertgebouw celebrates him with four unique concerts. Saxophone legend Joshua Redman counts Coltrane among his major inspirations. In 2022, Redman and his powerhouse quartet brought down the roof of the Main Hall now he joins the Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw to honor his great hero.

The Concertgebouw and jazz & pop music are a perfect match. The Main Hall and Recital Hall have witnessed nearly all of jazz history. Sarah Vaughan and Ella Fitzgerald performed here, as did Miles Davis and Louis Armstrong. Frank Zappa, the Doors and the Eagles are among the famous pop stars and bands to have graced the Main Hall.
