Hungarian Symphony
Hungarian music embodies melancholy, wild passion, and a distinct rhythm, influencing the diverse works of the programme. From the Romantic Serenade for string trio by Dohnányi, to Liszt’s haunting Tristia, to the folk‐infused melodies in Bartók’s early Piano Quintet, and Kurtág’s meticulously crafted pieces: each note resonates with the vast puszta and the Hungarian spirit. This is equally true for the expressive String Trio by Peter Eötvös, who led the Concertgebouw Orchestra several times before his demise in 2024.
Intimate Performances
Concertgebouw Orchestra musicians curate exclusive programmes in the Recital Hall under the Close‐up chamber music series. Each concert is a one‐time performance, showcasing the unique talents of the orchestral musicians! These intimate sessions are organized by the Friends of the Concertgebouw and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.
