Bösendorfer Series: Paul Lewis
Amsterdam, De Waalse Kerk
About the Event
Immerse yourself in the stunning architecture of Amsterdam's breathtaking De Waalse Kerk for the ultimate concert set to awake your understanding of music.
The Bösendorfer Piano Series is a series of intimate piano recitals in which nine top pianists shine behind our Bösendorfer Imperial Grand grand piano.
A long‐held wish of Paul Lewis is coming true: to devote himself completely to Mozart's piano sonatas.
For a long time, the world‐famous pianist considered these works the less inspired brother of Mozart's famous piano concertos. With this concert series, he aims to rectify that persistent perception. In the concert he gives during the Bösendorfer Piano Series, he explores the richness and versatility of the sonatas and places them in dialogue with works by other composers. From the transparency, subtlety and humor of Poulenc to the dreamy sound world of Debussy‐all of these elements can be traced back to, and heard in, Mozart's piano sonatas.
