Bösendorfer Series: Dmytro Choni
Amsterdam, De Waalse Kerk
About the Event
Immerse yourself in the stunning architecture of Amsterdam's breathtaking De Waalse Kerk for the ultimate concert set to awake your understanding of music.
The Bösendorfer Piano Series is a series of intimate piano recitals in which nine top pianists shine behind our Bösendorfer Imperial Grand grand piano.
Dmytro Choni opens the recital with Mendelssohn's 6 Lieder ohne Worte, in which poetry without words comes to life: lyrical, intimate and full of refinement. This is followed by Schumann's Novellette in F‐sharp minor, an expressive and dramatic work that is full of inner tension. Brahms' Vier Klavierstücke, op. 119 conclude the first movement with deep reflection and masterful structure. After intermission, Brahms follows again, this time with the Two Rhapsodies, op. 79 — powerful works full of romantic fire. Then, with Lysenko's Rêverie, he establishes a dreamy atmosphere, refined and wistful. Finally, Lysenkos Rhapsody on Ukrainian Folk Themes No. 2 “Dumka‐Shumka” sounds, an energetic final piece that concludes the recital festive and full of character.
