About the Event

The Paper Airplane Request Tour by Ben Folds offers a distinctive concert experience where fans are encouraged to jot down their favorite Folds songs on paper, fashion them into airplanes, and send them soaring toward the stage. The concert unfolds in two segments, divided by a brief intermission. In the opening segment, Folds performs a pre‐selected setlist. Following the break, he switches to songs requested by the audience through the paper airplanes that glide onto the stage. Attendees are invited to bring pre‐made paper airplanes, though they can also craft them on site using supplies available at the merchandise table.

Ben Folds, an Emmy‐nominated singer‐songwriter, has forged a vast and diverse musical repertoire encompassing pop albums with the band Ben Folds Five, numerous solo efforts, a holiday collection, and several collaborative projects. Currently touring as a pop musician, he also boasts over two decades of performances with premier symphony orchestras worldwide. Folds served for eight years as the inaugural Artistic Advisor to the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, resigning when Donald Trump announced his control over the Center. Just prior to the US presidential election, he recorded two sold‐out concerts with the NSO, later releasing them as a live album, which topped the Billboard classical and classical crossover charts.

A New York Times Bestselling author, Ben also composes new music for films, television, and theater, including original songs for ongoing animated Peanuts specials on Apple TV. In 2022, he initiated “Keys For Kids,” a music education charity in his home state of North Carolina, which supports nonprofits offering free or affordable piano lessons to disadvantaged youth. For the last 15 years, he has championed arts funding, music education, and music therapy in the US, actively participating as a member of Americans For The Arts and the Arts Action Fund.
