Amadou & Mariam
La vie est belle' with Amadou Bagayoko (guitar and vocals) and Mariam Doumbia (vocals). The West African couple, blind since childhood, met at Mali's Institute for the Young Blind and soon formed a duo. Since they started in 1974, they have become musical ambassadors of Africa in general and Mali in particular with their sunny songs.

Amadou & Mariam's musical style is eclectic. It is an exuberant mix of traditional Malian music, desert blues and pop to swinging afrofunk that causes smiling faces everywhere. Since the band ventured across to Europe in the early 1990s, they have performed worldwide. They have performed at the biggest festivals, Manu Chao produced their breakthrough album Dimanche à Bamako from 2005 and there have been collaborations with well‐known Western artists and bands such as Damon Albarn (Blur), Sofi Tukker and TV on the Radio.
