About the Event

Celebrate with the Concertgebouw Orchestra as they mark the twenty‐fifth season of their prestigious Academy! Klaus Mäkelä will conduct an ensemble of current and former participants, with significant roles for ex‐associate conductor Aurel Dawidiuk (in dual capacities as conductor and organist), principal clarinetist Carlos Ferreira, and principal violist Santa Vižine.

Academy of the Concertgebouw Orchestra
For a quarter of a century, the Academy of the Concertgebouw Orchestra has honed the skills of promising young musicians. It has evolved into a globally acclaimed training institution and is central to the orchestra's suite of youth‐focused initiatives, such as Concertgebouw Orchestra Young for those aged 14 to 18, the biennial Ammodo Masterclass for emerging conductors, and the Bernard Haitink Associate Conductorship. Numerous graduates have secured positions in professional orchestras, with nineteen (soon to be twenty‐one) joining the Concertgebouw Orchestra itself.

Klaus Mäkelä, Aurel Dawidiuk, Carlos Ferreira, and Santa Vižine
In this celebration, future chief conductor Klaus Mäkelä leads an ensemble of past and present programme participants. Aurel Dawidiuk, the orchestra's inaugural associate conductor (2024–26), will conduct Peer Gynt Suite No. 1 and perform as the soloist in Saint‐Saëns's Organ Symphony. Additionally, two former Academy talents, now principal musicians, will take the stage as soloists in Bruch's Double Concerto for Clarinet and Viola!

Beyond an anniversary celebration, it honors twenty‐five years of dedication to developing talent and promising a vibrant future for symphonic music.
