In Modest Mussorgsky's only full opera, he composed one of the most impressive characters in the history of the genre. Kirill Karabits conducts Richard Jones' staging of 'Boris Gudunov' at the Deutsche Oper Berlin.

Mussorgsky's Czar Boris is a intelligent emperor and loving father, who has risen to power due to a smart marriage, sound leadership, but under the shadow of murder of a murder. The opera traces the ruler's demise, owing to his own bad conscience and the pressure of political processes beyond his control.

Sung in Russian, with English and German surtitles.
