Berliner Residenz Konzerte: Vivaldi & Bach, Orangerie Berlin

About the Event

When the days slowly grew shorter and the nights longer, people at the royal court met for festive candlelit evenings with music — the chamber music ensemble of the Berlin Residence Orchestra will revive this tradition for you in the White Hall in the New Wing of Charlottenburg Palace.

Starting in mid‐September 2021, you are cordially invited every Saturday evening to listen to sounds by Bach, Vivaldi and Pachelbel in an atmospheric setting. '
Alla rustica', composed by Vivaldi after 1720, will thrill you with its rousing sensuality and vitality.
The White Hall, with its light colours and nature‐inspired room design, picks up on this sensuality — music and space merge into an experience that touches deeply.

Bach ́s famous 'Air' — the second, slow movement from his Orchestra Suite No. 3 in D major, which he composed in 1732 for the Collegium Musicum in Leipzig, will be virtuously played for you by the Berlin Residence Orchestra.
The Nuremberg baroque composer Johann Pachelbel created what is probably his most popular work with his Canon in D major in 1694. It was probably commissioned for the wedding of Johann Christoph Bach, the elder brother of Johann Sebastian Bach. Even today, this composition enchants the listener — surrender to the experience of early music in the festive atmosphere of the White Hall with all your senses.
