About the Event

The Berlin Konzerthaus Orchestra performs Beethoven's Second and Third Symphonies under the baton of Iván Fischer at Konzerthaus Berlin.

The two symphonies demonstrate the transition from the composer's early works into his creative middle‐period. The Third Symphony was very nearly idealistically titled 'Buonaparte'. Upon hearing that Napoleon had declared himself Emperor, Beethoven supposedly flew into a disappointed rage and later renamed the work 'Sinfonia eroica'.
