Comprising some of Vienna's most established and acclaimed string musicians, the Kaiserquartett - or Emperor Quartet - pays tribute to the long history of Hapsburg support for, and involvement in music that made the city Europe's musical capital. Keeping the traditions of patronage and the shared joys of magnificent music alive, the ensemble brings experienced professionals and promising young graduates together, making a virtue of its varied roster; younger players have the chance to learn from the city's musical statesmen and women, while the latter benefit from the energy and spirit of the new generation. The Wiener Kaiserquartett occasionally expands its repertoire through the inclusion of renowned wind and vocal colleagues to present works with which the Imperial Court of Austria-Hungary was particularly identified.
