Sigurd Slåttebrekk, a norwegian piano player, was a former student of the Norwegian Music Academy and Juilliard Music School. He was named the Rikskonserter Musician of the Year in 1991. After years of concert tours, a very successful Ravel CD (1997) and extremely positive critique: “extraordinary recording” (Schwann Opus), “among the great musicians” (American Record Guide), he discontinued giving concerts. After a pause of five years he recorded a CD of Schumann music for the record label Simax about which the BBC Music Magazine wrote: “the most remarkable Schumann recording ever heard.”
