The English violinist studied with David Takeno at the celebrated Yehudi Menuhin School, with the excellent teacher Zachar Bron in Germany, and also spent two years at the Vienna Conservatory. She was chosen as the British representative in the European Concert Halls Organisation Rising Stars Series, which affords promising young artists to appear in the most prestigious European concert halls. Inclusion in the Series all but ensures international prominence and the launch of a successful career. Priya has thus given highly acclaimed performances with numerous eminent English orchestras, and has worked with the Belgian Radio and Television Philharmonic, the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Deutsche Sinfonie‐Orchester, to name but a few. In July 2000, Priya Mitchell launched her own festival – the Oxford Chamber Music Festival. In the words of The Independent, “this is a festival that should really put Oxford on the map of the classical music world”.
