Michael Schönheit

Since 1986, the acclaimed German organist has been the official organist of the Gewandhaus Leipzig, one of the most prestigious posts of its kind. Schönheit was the 1984 winner of the International JS Bach Organ Competition and has gone on to enjoy a diverse solo career that has seen him perform with many of the world's finest orchestras, on some of the greatest instruments ever built. In parallel with his Gewandhaus duties and solo career, Schönheit is also the honorary organist of the Merseburg Cathedral, teaches organ in Nuremberg, and has an increasingly busy conducting career in choral music, as well as performing on the historic fortepiano.
