Leopold, Rudolf

Rudolf Leopold was born in Vienna and studied violoncello at the Vienna Musikhochschule with Richard Kortschak and Tobias Kühne. Furthermore, he also studied piano and composition.

As member of the Franz Schubert Quartet (1974‐1983) he became an internationally renowned cellist.
From 1983 to 1990 Rudolf Leopold taught chamber music at the Vienna Musikhochschule, since 1990 he has been professor at the University of Music in Graz.
He was member of the world‐famous Wiener Streichsextett, played in Nikolaus Harnoncourt's Concentus Musicus Wien for a long time and gives successful concerts as soloist.
