Ivan Karizna (born in 1992) is a student at the Paris Conservatory. He comes from a musical family and began learning the cello at age 7 under the guidance of Vladimir Perlin. In the course of only a few years he has won many competitions, the last of these being third place in the prestigious International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow in 2011. Another great accomplishment for Karizna was the opportunity to represent Belarus in the international Eurovision Young Musicians competition, in which he made it into the finals and won several awards. Karizna already has to his credit a whole series of solo concerts and performances with many notable Russian orchestras including the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra, the Moscow Virtuosi under Vladimir Spivakov, the State Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Russian Federation, and the St. Petersburg and Belarusian Philharmonic Orchestras.
