Kagel, Mauricio

Mauricio Kagel, born 1931, is a composer and conductor. He is considered to be one of the greatest composers of the 20th century. Since moving to Cologne in 1957 he has been in the centre of attention of the musical world. Mauricio Kagel has received numerous awards and prizes, his influence on the development of the electronic music is tremendous. Die Stücke der Windrose, written in 1988-1994, manifests as a memory of southern warmth that surrounded the composer in his youth. It is a description of the southern seas from Mexico to New-Zealand, typical harmonies of the Far-Eastern music alternating with cacophonic colours.
